Niti Marcelle Mueth, born in 1995 in Montreal, QC, is a 28-year-old interdisciplinary artist of Haitian and Cameroonian descent. Currently residing and working in Montreal, Mueth’s artistic journey is defined by a diverse educational background, including graphic design, multimedia, textile printing and art therapy.
Her artistic practice is a fusion of traditional and digital mediums, encompassing painting, screen printing, drawing, and digital art. Inspired by themes of self-reflection, kindness, acceptance, and love, Niti creates vibrant portraits and engaging dialogues that explore the human experience. Niti’s artistic process involves drawing inspiration from various sources, mainly researches, including books, discussions, podcasts, and documentaries. She draws portraits of individuals in safe spaces, painting them with soft yet warming tones contrasting with bright colors.
Growing up, Niti found solace in art as her safe space. The challenges she faced in creating meaningful relationships and feeling understood shaped her artistic journey. Her influences stem from personal experiences, community, a desire for self-improvement, and a commitment to learning and sharing knowledge.
Niti’s impactful contributions to the art scene include notable exhibitions such as “Unfold: Exploring the Beauty of Growth” at Oomachi Gallery in Fukushima, Japan, and “Joy As Resistance” at Never Apart Gallery in Montreal, Canada. She has also participated in significant installations, including “The Real Demoiselles d’Avignon” at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Recognized for her commitment to socially engaged art, Niti has received prestigious accolades, including the School Residencies Bursary from the Ministère de l’Éducation and Montreal Arts Council in 2023. In 2021, she was honored as the Socially Engaged Artist of the Year, receiving an award and bursary from the Montreal Arts Council and Gala Dynastie. Her achievements also extend to being acknowledged as one of the Top 5 go-getter women in Canada by Fido & FlareMag in 2017.
